High dose Vitamin D supplements significantly reduce falls in older people.

High dose Vitamin D supplements significantly reduce falls and fractures in the over-65s as Herald.ie reports. Extract from the report:

"People aged 65 and above should take high-dose vitamin D supplements to help stop them falling over, a team of European and US researchers said yesterday.

Senior citizens can cut their chance of falls by 19pc if they take between 17.5 microgrammes and 25 microgrammes of the vitamin as a daily supplement, the researchers from Zurich and Harvard claimed."

Well that's good news.

I've certainly felt stronger since I started taking vitamin D supplements some months ago.

  1. There is some interesting data suggesting that keeping your vitamin D level optimal will prevent colds, flu and in particular H1N1 (swine Flu). The Canadians are taking the data very seriously and starting studies to see if Vitamin D can prevent Flu
