It's European Obesity Day today.

Drawing special attention today to the growing incidence of obesity is unlikely to reduce the problem, because the usual suspects (eating too many calories/too much fat and not taking enough exercise) will be re-accused and again found guilty, and the well-known but incorrect advice will yet again be trotted out mindlessly to the unfortunate victims of the advice, namely: "Why don't you just eat less and exercise more?" - See the mostly sneering Comments that follow this Guardian article.

While the rĂ´le of salt remains unacknowledged by the 'experts' on obesity, there isn't a snowball's chance in Hell that obesity will start to decline.

Lose weight by eating less salt! - Go on! - Try it! - You will feel so much better!

  1. Wonderful! You are RIGHT about salt being the cause of obesity. I figured out as much myself a few days ago. In 2006, I was given high-dose steroid therapy (predisone) for a couple of months. Never been the same. Got obese, began having edema, menorrhagia, debilitating sinusitis, and despite spending hours trying to "cure" myself, no definitive answers. Last month, I decided (with the help of some original research and principles of Chinese medicine) that the culprit MUST be salt. And here I am, living off fresh fruit and vegetables and nuts for the first time in my life (and some whole grains now and then), and lighter by a whopping 19 pounds. I had a miserable time to begin with!! This is what it's like now - full body edema gone, periods turning normal after 3 years, ascites getting better, and my sinuses throwing out salty gunk I couldn't imagine I'd been storing so much of! I feel fantastic!! Your blog is a wonderful inspiration, and so I hope, is my story. I'll let you know how things turn out in the second month.

  2. I am so pleased you have found the truth and that getting rid of such a lot of excess fluid has set you free to enjoy your life again.

Well done - and thank you for sharing your experience with us.
