Weeping Red Flowers in a Vase - Poem by Margaret Wilde

With wayward grace, however held,
The flowers bend, and earthward arch.
And so my thoughts, which you engage,
Sway back, and earth-bent, draw away,
Unslaked, unnourished at the common well.

The gaudy petals fitfully provide
A falling splendour and a lively death.
