Hospital bug linked to deaths of 17 elderly patients in four months - Independent
"Between December and March 28, 17 patients at the hospital had experienced complications from the bug which had either caused or contributed to their death, said a spokeswoman.
Five patients had undergone major bowel surgery after being struck down by the bug.
Another 11 were being treated in the hospital.
Staff said the James Padget was not the first UK hospital to have been hit by C Diff.
They said there had been outbreaks in Leicester and Buckinghamshire after the bug first surfaced in North America."
