If you don't want wrinkles when you are older it would be best to avoid repeated dieting...

Dieting makes your skin thinner and so it will wrinkle more readily. And dieting weaken your bones so that they fracture more readily. You don't need to diet to lose weight; you just need to cut down on salt and salty food. This is the safe, sure, fast way to lose excess weight.

Obesity is NOT caused by overeating and/or inactivity. It is caused by fluid retention, frequently because of taking prescribed medications, especially steroids such as prednisolone, prednisone and HRT, and anti-depressants such as amitriptyline/Elavil. (When doctors prescribe drugs that cause sodium retention and water retention they should warn the patient not to eat salt, or food containing salt, while taking the medication. When they do not give this warning, the inevitable consequence is considerable weight gain.)

Obesity can be easily reduced by seriously reducing your salt/sodium intake and eating plenty of fruit and fresh vegetables. It is important not to restrict calories. - 'Slimming' or 'dieting' is unnecessary, ineffective and often harmful.

Lose weight, reduce your risk of most cancers, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, stroke, heart disease, vascular dementia, osteopenia, osteoporosis, hypercholesterolaemia, depression, liver and kidney problems, and improve your health in many other ways without drugs or expense by eating less salt! - Try it! - You will feel so much better!

advice for pregnant mothers

Tuesday, 15 July 2008

Obesity could increase with each generation because overweight mothers give birth to offspring who have a tendency to become heavier, experts say.

Obesity will increase with each generation, medical experts warn
Article in the Telegraph

Extract:

"A team of scientists believe that the genetic mechanisms that control the weight of a baby may be changed if the mother is obese before and during pregnancy.

This change could lead in turn to the baby becoming heavier than normal.

Scientists in Houston, America, made the claim after studying the eating habits of several generations of mice."

This prospect could easily be avoided if people were given the correct information. - Obesity is caused by salt sensitivity/sodium retention/water retention/fluid retention and not by overeating. All the advice about reducing calories to reduce excess weight is completely false and is exacerbating both the incidence and the severity of obesity.

To reduce obesity significantly and to prevent it in children, it is necessary to avoid eating salt and salty food. So there really needs to be a ban on adding salt to processed food and bread, because these are the foods that contribute most of the salt that people eat.

The second very important preventive measure is to curb the reckless overprescribing of drugs by the medical profession, because so many of these drugs CAUSE sodium retention/fluid retention, etc and therefore their patients/victims become obese and frequently become morbidly obese needlessly. I consider it medical negligence not to warn patients that when they are taking these drugs that cause sodium retention that they will gain a lot of weight UNLESS they avoid salt/sodium and salty food while taking the medication. - The main drugs that cause weight gain in this way are steroids like prednisone and prednisolone and HRT (because of the oestrogen content), and antidepressants like amitriptyline/Elavil and other tricyclics, and antipsychotic drugs. There are many other drugs too that cause weight gain, but they usually have a smaller effect than the steroids, the tricyclics and the antipsychotics.

Doctors and other 'experts' should be forbidden by law from telling people to cut down on calories/eat less because this is harmful and does not reduce obesity at all.

Likewise exercise is good for people in many ways but it does not reduce the weight of obese people AT ALL. - It would be better for fat people to lose weight (by seriously reducing salt intake) before embarking on much exercise, because exercise is very tiring for fat people and it also tends to be hazardous for them, raising their blood pressure, etc.

Antidepressants

Antidepressants: Swedish FDA mobilized to save pharma
The news that antidepressants in actual fact don't work better than sugar pills and increase the risk of suicide has filled major media during the past year. Psychiatrists, Big pharma and medical agencies, responsible for distorting the facts for many years, are now working hard to save profits and careers, says Swedish independent investigator and reporter Janne Larsson.

Tricyclic antidepressants, e.g. amitriptyline, also known as Elavil, Tryptanol, Endep, Elatrol, Tryptizol, Trepiline, Laroxyl, also cause weight gain/fluid retention and are therefore a common cause of obesity. See amitriptyline

Manboobs a problem for you? - Try reducing your salt/sodium intake.

You may well be sensitive to salt. - This is a common reason for breasts increasing in size. - You could have been made sensitive to salt because of taking prescribed drugs, e.g. steroids, including prednisone and prednisolone, or tricyclic antidepressants like amitriptyline/elavil/endep, or many other drugs. Or possibly there is a rather high concentration of oestrogen in you local water supply.

For people who are sensitive to salt, it is a good idea to avoid eating salt or food containing salt, because eating salt results in fluid retention, which naturally means weight gain and becoming fat. Reducing sodium intake releases some of the excess fluid from the body and it is excreted in the urine.

Misguided scientists claim to have found the hormone to stop over-eating. - They are proposing more pharmaceutical junk drugs to mimic leptin.

Scientists find hormone to stop over-eating - Telegraph

Extract:

"A new class of drugs to treat obesity could be developed within a decade after a study of a hormone that stops us eating too much.

Those who lack the chemical, called leptin, find less appetising food such as broccoli as mouthwatering as chocolate cake. The result is that they over-eat even when they are not hungry.

Although the hormone is well known to influence appetite by signalling how much fat is in the body, a study today shows that it also controls emotional attachment to food.

The research suggests that it should be possible to design anti-obesity drugs which interfere with the brain's "pleasure" centres - the regions that respond to rewarding emotions and desires.

Leptin has been intensively studied since it was discovered in 1994. But several years ago it was found that injections of the hormone are ineffective as an anti-obesity treatment.

Today's work, published in the journal Science by Dr Sadaf Farooqi and Dr Paul Fletcher of Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, will boost research since it shows that drugs that can mimic leptin's effects in the part of the brain that governs our food cravings could offer a treatment for obesity.

Dr Farooqi said that such drugs are already being studied and, if effective, would over-ride brain signals that regulate hunger. The drugs would not turn people off food but make them more discriminating."

It's such a shame/scandal that researchers waste time and money on stuff like this. - The assumption behind all this twaddle is that obesity is caused by eating too much - eating too many calories. - This assumption is not supported by evidence and has never even been subjected to trial. - Pharmaceutical drugs that alter the brain in some way are clearly not a desirable route to take in tackling obesity. - It is the body that is functioning abnormally in obese people, not the brain. - And the fundamental abnormality in the body of an obese person is the state of the veins. - When the veins have been weakened by high salt intake in childhood, or when the veins have been weakened by a high salt intake during pregnancy or by salt intake when taking prescribed steroids/corticosteroids like prednisone (AKA Deltasone) or prednisolone (AKA Prelone, Pediapred), HRT, tricyclic antidepressants like amitriptyline (AKA elavil, Tryptanol, Endep, Elatrol, Tryptizol, Trepiline, Laroxyl) or many other prescription drugs, then the bloodstream becomes suffused with excess salt/sodium and excess water that the salt attracts to itself. See http://www.wildeaboutsteroids.co.uk/steroids.html and http://www.wildeaboutsteroids.co.uk/ami.html

This excess fluid in the bloodstream leads inevitably to weight gain. There are various names for the condition - salt sensitivity, sodium retention, fluid retention, hypervolemia, obesity, water retention. - Doctors and obesity 'experts' fail to understand the etiology of obesity because they consistently disregard the evidence their obese patients give them.

Obesity is caused by fluid retention, not by overeating.

Fortunately, it is extremely easy to reduce the fluid retention and therefore the obesity. - Sodium is the vector holding the excess water in the bloodstream, so reducing sodium intake releases some of the excess water and it is excreted in the urine.

Sometimes fat retention follows fluid retention, especially if people try to lose weight by dieting and therefore are eating insufficient food, leading (significantly) to insufficient calcium, magnesium and vitamin D. - If you increase your intake of these, you will excrete some of the excess fat in the faeces. - It is not necessary, or even desirable, to eat a low fat diet. See http://aboutsalt.blogspot.com/search/label/calcium and BBC webpage about calcium from The Truth About Food series of programmes

Remember: pharmaceuticals don't just damage people; they can damage pets too.

For example, amitriptyline (also known as Elavil) frequently/usually causes weight gain in people because it makes them sensitive to salt and they develop sodium and water retention. - In your pet dog, the effect would be even more pronounced because of your pet's smaller size compared to a person. - See http://www.wildeaboutsteroids.co.uk/ami.html for information about amitriptyline and weight gain.

And if your pet is prescribed steroid medication, this too causes extreme salt sensitivity, with sodium and water retention. See http://www.wildeaboutsteroids.co.uk/steroids.html for information about steroids and weight gain.

It is MOST IMPORTANT if your pet is taking any of these prescribed medications that you do not give him/her food containing salt. - Do not give leftovers from your takeaways, for example, as these are usually high is salt/sodium. - Any salt will cause increased thirst/drinking, and because of the sodium and water retention that salt and water will not get excreted and so your pet will gain weight and have less energy and will be at increased risk of developing diabetes and a multitude of other problems.

Remember obesity in dogs and cats is not caused by overeating; it is caused by fluid retention.

DO NOT FEED YOUR DOG OR CAT FOOD CONTAINING SALT! It is bad for them.

Lose weight by eating less salt! Go on! - Try it! - You will feel so much better!
