Crumpled faces
A few days later, by strange coincidence, I came across a possible explanation. Strange, because in all my life I had never heard about it before. The likely answer seems to be GLYCATION. - Go on! - Look it up using your favourite search engine! - It seems that glycation can occur when protein and sugar combine in the body. The Advanced Glycation End products (AGEs) that result are undesirable signs of accelerated ageing, which can include wrinkles, cataracts, peripheral nerve damage and many more. So if your poor face has started to look crumpled, or you'd rather like to prevent it ever starting to look crumpled, perhaps you'd like to cut down on the sugar and sugary stuff you eat. Stay as sweet (and young and beautiful) as you are by avoiding the sweet stuff! And reduce your risk of type 2 diabetes...

Tackling the Ageing Process
Who could disagree with that? - Treating the cause and therefore preventing illness must be better than dealing with symptoms, and trying to cure or reduce problems later is clearly the less desirable course.
However, the following statement perturbs me: "Drugs which inhibit the nutrient pathways in humans could replicate the effects of a healthy diet and act not only to increase lifespan but to target a broad range of ageing related diseases such as cardiovascular disease, cancers, diabetes and Alzheimer's." - What brave new world is this? - Drugs to replicate the effects of a healthy diet? - Why not a healthy diet and to Hell with the drugs?
My experience and study have led me to realise that the illnesses we most commonly tend to attribute to ageing are really not caused by the passage of years, but by the damage wrought by salt sensitivity/fluid retention/oedema/excess weight or by inadequate nutrition, frequently caused by 'dieting' to try to lose weight or by taking prescription drugs with harmful side-effects.
All of these health problems can be reduced or avoided by avoiding taking prescription drugs unless they are absolutely necessary, by avoiding salt and salty food and by optimising nutrition with plenty of good healthy meals and no low-calorie diet junk or dodgy additives.
Lose weight, reduce your risk of most cancers, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, heart attack, vascular dementia, stroke, osteopenia, osteoporosis, hypercholesterolaemia, depression, liver and kidney problems, and improve your health in many other ways without drugs, hunger or expense by eating less salt! - Try it!

The diseases of old age are seldom caused by advancing years! - They are caused by fluid retention/obesity/salt sensitivity, compounded by dieting.
Lose weight, reduce your risk of most cancers, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, stroke, heart disease, angina, vascular dementia, osteopenia, osteoporosis, hypercholesterolaemia, depression, liver and kidney problems, and improve your health in many other ways without drugs or expense by eating less salt! - Try it! - You will feel so much better!

EU bans misleading 'sunblock' labels
Extract:
"The European Commission is to ban creams that are described as offering total protection from the sun.
It fears that sunblocks which say they offer "100 per cent protection" or other similar claims lull customers into a false sense of security.
No sunscreen can deliver total protection from the effects of the sun, which include premature ageing and skin cancer.
By next summer, all sun creams will have to display the sun protection factor rating as well as whether they offer low, medium, high or very high protection from ultraviolet light.
Meglena Kuneva, the EU consumer affairs commissioner said: "Consumers need clear, accurate information on sunscreen products.""
You can reduce your sensitivity to the sun by cutting down on your intake of salt and salty food - especially if your skin is thin/fragile.
Lose weight by eating less salt! Go on! - Try it! - You will feel so much better!
