One in three children aged ten and one in four aged four are overweight or obese, official Government figures have found.

One in three children aged ten and 11 are overweight or obese
article in the Telegraph

Extract:

"This year 88 per cent of eligible children took part - almost one million - compared to 80 per cent last year.

Tim Straughan, chief executive of the NHS Information Centre, said: "Obesity is one of the biggest threats to the health of our nation and it is of huge concern that the problem is afflicting so many children and at such an early age.

"Today's report is the second time The NHS Information Centre has published annual findings for the programme. Over time, we expect the programme to pinpoint trends in the prevalence of obesity which will help frontline staff identify where best to direct their efforts in tackling the problem."

Children who are overweight or obese are more likely to have lifelong health problems and type 2 diabetes, normally only seen in adults over the age of 40 is now being diagnosed in children."

The trouble is, obesity is blamed on 'overeating' instead of on the real cause, which is fluid retention. As a result of people being given the wrong information and advice, obesity and ill-health increase.

Prescriptions for obesity drugs pass a million

Prescriptions for obesity drugs pass a million

Extracts from the Telegraph:

"Data from the NHS Information Centre shows in 2006, 1.06m prescriptions were written for orlistat, which blocks the absorption of fat from food, and sibutramine which acts as an appetite suppressant.

Prescriptions of the drugs have increased eight fold since 1999."

"The report from the Information Centre shows 67 per cent of adults were either obese or overweight in 2006, up from 59 per cent in 1993.

A quarter of adults are classed as obese which means they have a body mass index of 30 or more when weight in kilos is divided by height in metres squared."

Sadly, as you will see from the complete Telegraph article, if you read it, the people who make pronouncements about the causes of obesity and the best treatments for it, are obviously mistaken in what they say, because if they were giving the correct information, obesity would not be on the increase...

The safest and fastest way to lose excess weight is to stop eating salt/sodium and food containing salt. This reduces the fluid retention which is the cause of obesity. The drugs that are prescribed for obesity are harmful, expensive, ineffective and unnecessary. They benefit only the pharmaceutical companies who sell them.

One in ten people in Britain has hardened arteries.

One in 10 has hard arteries

Extract from the Telegraph:

"One in ten adults is living with hardened arteries - the main cause of death in Britain - it was revealed yesterday.

The estimated cost of treating obesity and conditions linked to it - including cancer, diabetes, heart disease and strokes - has risen to well in excess of £1?billion a year. Based on body mass index and waist circumference - an indicator of the amount of abdominal fat - one in five men and one in four women are at a very high risk of health complications because of their weight, the NHS Information Centre found.

In England in 2006 there were 4,068 people who had been diagnosed as clinically obese - a fourfold rise in 10 years. However, there were a further 80,000 whose primary condition such as diabetes is caused by them being obese."

The best and safest way to reduce all these health problems is to avoid eating salt and salty food.
