I have to see a cardiologist about Atrial Fibrillation

I've had AF (Atrial Fibrillation) for years but I've never seen anybody about it before. Maybe you've read about GPs frequently assuming women are healthy when actually they have heart disease. (See also Unconscious bias: why women don’t get the same care men do.) - I'm hoping that some of this massive excess Blood Volume can be removed and thus relieve the pain of all the swollen veins (caused by taking inappropriately prescribed drugs in the past). - Fingers crossed I'll not be expected to take drugs for the condition. I'm very anti-pharmaceuticals because they have caused me such harm.

Hospital may cut surgery delays by using a robotic arm

Hospital may cut surgery delays with robots - Telegraph

Extract:

"British doctors are pioneering the use of a robotic arm to carry out a life-saving heart procedure.

Cardiologists in London are using the technology to navigate inside the heart when treating patients for a fast or irregular heartbeat.

Tony Blair, the former prime minister, underwent the procedure, done by hand, at Hammersmith Hospital in 2004.

Doctors at St Mary's Hospital in London are using the Sensei Robot to control the wires that are passed along the arteries into the heart during catheter ablation.

The cardiologist sits at a computer console and controls the robot arm with a joystick to feed the wires along the blood vessel while following the progress of the operation on a monitor.

The wires cauterise a tiny section of malfunctioning heart muscle to stop the electric signals that create a rapid or irregular rhythm.

Without the robot's precise movements, the wires can damage healthy tissue. Few doctors are skilled enough to carry out the procedure by hand, leading to long waiting lists for the treatment.

However, the robot means hundreds more doctors can carry out the procedure and more patients with the condition, known as atrial fibrillation (AF), can be treated.

The condition is associated with increased long-term risk for severe stroke and heart failure."

You can lower your risk of stroke and heart failure - and many other health problems - by eating less salt and salty food.
