WHO reveals pandemic flu advisors with industry ties

Five of the 15 experts that advised the World Health Organisation about swine flu pandemic alerts had received support from the drugs industry, including for flu vaccine research, the WHO has revealed.

Clear thinking about the corruption that links WHO and the pharmaceutical industry

Here's an outspoken, courageous page about the World Health Organisation and the H1N1 scam: http://keithconnectsthedots.com/2010/06/06/who-scandal-exposed-advisors-received-kickbacks-from-h1n1-vaccine-manufacturers.aspx

I warned against the vaccine on my aboutsalt blog last September: http://aboutsalt.blogspot.com/2009/09/think-before-you-vaccinate.html

The pharmaceutical companies cannot be trusted. Nor, clearly, can the World Health Organisation be trusted.

Investigation finds WHO swine flu experts WERE financially 'linked' with drug companies

Read BBC News report here. "A spokesman for WHO said the drug industry did not influence its decisions on swine flu." - Anyone believe that? - Anyone at all? - I certainly don't. - I suppose most people realise by now that the World Health Organisation is corrupted by the fact that some of its advisers are in the pocket of the pharmaceutical industry. We therefore cannot trust what WHO tells us. What a terrible waste...

Paul Flynn MP denounces swine flu drugs lobby

I must apologise. - I read the Walesonline article a week ago and should have posted about it then, but tiredness intervened. Have a look also at this page from Paul Flynn's blog.

A Welsh MP has raised concerns that the swine flu pandemic was exaggerated under pressure from the pharmaceutical industry. Newport West MP Paul Flynn believes the H1N1 pandemic is the latest is a long line of health scares – including Sars and new variant CJD – to be blown out of proportion. He has welcomed a hearing to determine whether the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) pandemic flu declaration in June was based on “objective epidemiological evidence or on pressure from the pharmaceutical lobby”. The left-wing Labour MP, who has tabled two motions in the House of Commons in a bid to expose “the pandemic that never was”, said: “We have had four major scares throughout the world of potential mass-killer pandemics but they have been exaggerated.

PACE to hold hearings on 'falsified' swine flu pandemic

PACE is to hold hearings on pharmaceutical companies' possible influence on the global swine flu campaign and on the World Health Organization, a Russian daily reported. "The 47-nation Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe is conducting an inquiry into an alleged conspiracy between the WHO, the pharmaceutical industry and scientists which could "expose millions of healthy people to the risk of side-effects of insufficiently tested vaccines," caused damage to public budgets and to health agencies' credibility, according to a PACE resolution. The motion was introduced by Dr. Wolfgang Wodarg, head of the health committee, former German lawmaker and a specialist in lung disease, who called the current pandemic "one of the greatest medical scandals of the century." WHO declared the pandemic in June 2009 on the advice of a group of experts many of whom are believed to have financial ties with pharmaceutical giants like GlaxoSmithKline, Roche, Novartis, and benefited from the production of drugs and H1N1 vaccines."

Comment: Russia's lower house of parliament, the State Duma, has apparently said that Russia should withdraw from the WHO if the corruption suspicions are proven.

Sleaze? the WHO advisor on vaccines and the secret Big Pharma cash?

A Finnish member of the World Health Organization board, an advisor on vaccines, has received 6 million Euros for his research center from the vaccine manufacturer GlaxoSmithKline. Although WHO promises transparency, this conflict of interest is not available for the public to see at WHO’s homepage. Professor Juhani Eskola is the director of the Finnish research vaccine program and a new member of the WHO group ‘Strategic Advisory Group of Experts’ (SAGE). SAGE recommends which vaccines -- and how many -- member countries should purchase for the pandemic.

Swine Flu Conspiracy? There are close links between World Health Organization officials and drug companies over swine flu...

A British epidemiologist has said he is worried by close links between World Health Organization (WHO) officials and pharmaceutical companies over swine flu. Recent Danish media reports alleged that the WHO, which on June 11 declared swine flu a pandemic, has teamed up with pharmaceutical companies to create a scare and cash in on selling a remedy. In an interview with Russia's BFM.ru, Tom Jefferson, a scientist currently based in Rome, said that although he personally did not believe in plots, "I am a bit worried about what I have observed." He said WHO expert committees have "people with extensive ties to the industry or decision-makers who have explicitly kept on producing apocalyptic forecasts year in, year out."

Misguided WHO researchers mistakenly conclude that greed is the explanation for the 'obesity epidemic'

The Telegraph reports that greed, not laziness is the explanation for the 'obesity epidemic', but in fact the explanation lies in neither greed nor laziness, nor a combination of the two. The researchers studied data from the US from the 1970s and the early 2000s, and found that the diet of children contained 350 more calories, while adult diets rose by 500 calories.

But calorie excess is not the cause of obesity. - The relevant changes from the 1970s to the early 2000s are a bigger salt intake, mainly from convenience foods and ready meals, a smaller intake of fruit and vegetables, and a huge increase in the consumption of prescription drugs, so many of which cause sodium and water retention/salt sensitivity/fluid retention/water weight/weight gain.

You do not need to reduce calorie intake or to take more exercise in order to lose weight. Obesity is not caused by over-eating. - You know that already if you think about it. - You see lots of slim people eating like there's no tomorrow and they don't put weight on, so clearly eating too much is not the cause of the 'obesity epidemic'.

Obesity is caused by a combination of salt sensitivity and salt intake. - Only people who are sensitive to salt become fat/overweight/obese. This happens because for them, salt is very harmful: it holds excess water in their bodies. This is often called fluid retention or oedema. The veins swell and the skin gets thinner as it stretches to accommodate the swollen veins.

Reducing calories does not help with these problems. It is irrelevant to them. - Reducing salt is what helps. - By eating less salt and salty food you can easily and swiftly lose some of the excess water and thus lose weight - a lot of weight, since water is heavy.

Lose weight, reduce your risk of most cancers, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, heart attack, vascular dementia, stroke, osteopenia, osteoporosis, hypercholesterolaemia, depression, liver and kidney problems, and improve your health in many other ways without drugs, hunger or expense by eating less salt! - Try it!

In OK! magazine pictures, Katie Price (Jordan) appears to be promoting infant formula milk rather than breastfeeding

Breast-feeding lobby criticises Jordan for infant formula 'stunt' - Independent on Sunday

Extract:

"Pictures of the model Katie Price, also known as Jordan, feeding her new baby Princess with infant formula during World Breastfeeding Week have angered the National Childbirth Trust, which has condemned OK! magazine for carrying the photos, which clearly show the model using SMA baby milk.

The next page of the magazine is given over to an advertisement for SMA formula designed for older infants. Wyeth, the pharmaceutical company that makes SMA, said it was merely a coincidence that the advert had appeared in the same edition as the photos of Jordan and her baby.

The NCT condemned the promotion as "appalling". Its chief executive, Belinda Phipps, said: "It is an extremely cynical way of getting round the ban on advertising infant formula."

The pro-breastfeeding group Baby Milk Action, which campaigns to inform mothers about the benefits of breast-feeding, plans to complain to the Advertising Standards Authority and Trading Standards about the advert, alleging that product placement is being used in order to get round a ban on promoting infant formula for babies under the age of six months."

Jordan possibly does not understand/realise the harm that formula milk causes to babies in poor countries. - As the article goes on to tell us:

"In developing countries, the World Health Organisation estimates that 1.5 million children die every year because they are not breast-fed, largely due to malnutrition and a lack of sterile water with which to prepare the formula."

But whether in poor or a rich country, here are many reasons why, if you are able to manage it, breastfeeding is best for your baby. Here is a reason you probably do not know about. - Human breast milk is very low in salt/sodium.

A low sodium intake at the beginning of a baby's life helps to protect the baby from becoming obese. The longer you continue to breastfeed, the better the protection from obesity and the stronger your baby's blood vessels will be. - six months would be good; longer still would be better still. - A low salt intake is best for mothers too...(o:

The World Health Organisation, the drugs company and the $10,000 funding offer

The World Health Organisation, the drugs company and the $10,000 funding offer - Guardian article.

Extract:

"The World Health Organisation is facing allegations that it attempted to secure a $10,000 (£5,100) donation from a drugs company by asking a patients' group to act as a covert channel for the funds, in the light of documents published today. The alleged arrangement would have broken the WHO's own rules on accepting money from the pharmaceutical industry.

Emails between Benedetto Saraceno, the WHO's director of mental health and substance abuse, and the European Parkinson's Disease Association appear to suggest that the WHO was willing to take $10,000 from Britain's biggest drug company, GlaxoSmithKline, to help pay for the preparation of a report on neurological disorders, for which GSK makes drugs.

However, Dr Saraceno made it clear that the money must pass through the coffers of the EPDA first because of the rules on WHO accepting drug industry funding. "

Nothing surprises me about the World Health Organisation! - Apart from its name, that is! - See my previous post for further criticism of this very flawed organisation. - See also Sleaze in the Medical Profession - You wonder whether the medical profession cares more about the health of patients or about the health of the sleazy drug companies' profits. - Or maybe, like me, you don't wonder...)o:

What causes obesity and overweight? - Here is the dangerous misinformation given by the World Health Organisation.

On page http://www.who.int/mediacentre/factsheets/fs311/en/ of the World Health Organisation's website you can read this:

"What causes obesity and overweight?

The fundamental cause of obesity and overweight is an energy imbalance between calories consumed on one hand, and calories expended on the other hand. Global increases in overweight and obesity are attributable to a number of factors including:

a global shift in diet towards increased intake of energy-dense foods that are high in fat and sugars but low in vitamins, minerals and other micronutrients; and

a trend towards decreased physical activity due to the increasingly sedentary nature of many forms of work, changing modes of transportation, and increasing urbanization."

This is not true! - It's incredible that the WHO can get away with this false assertion. - There is absolutely no evidence for their claim! - They have never even put their claim to the test! (Their one mention of salt - which contains no calories at all - on the webpage is only peripheral.)

See http://aboutsalt.blogspot.com/2006/11/do-you-believe-that-obesity-is-caused.html and http://www.wildeaboutsteroids.co.uk/story.html

Obesity is not caused by eating too much. - It is usually caused/initiated by salt sensitivity and fluid retention, and is best reduced by abandoning the calorie myth and concentrating on cutting down on salt/sodium intake and eating plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables.

Dieting is potentially harmful. Lose weight by eating less salt! - Go on! - Try it! - See my website http://www.wildeaboutsteroids.co.uk/ (The site does not sell anything and has no banners or sponsors or adverts - just helpful information.)
